This is a coursework piece painted as part of my Fine Art GCSE; I'm really not proud of it. xD I did a really shoddy paint job and the blue I chose for the wave is all wrong. I wish I could go back and do it again. ;~;

The idea behind this Japanese-themed piece was to show each season through nature, converged into one scene. The volcano is meant to be Fuji, painted in a warm colour to show summer. Cherry blossoms and a butterfly show spring, whereas the violent, stormy wave shows the harshness of winter. The glowing orange sky portrays autumn. No idea where the massive koi came from..xD

I REALLY want to show you guys my exam piece! But they didn't have it at the exhibition so I couldn't take a photo for you. Soon as I get it back, I'll shove it on here. c:

Note to those who think I'm 'trying to imitate' Hokusai's Great Wave: Nope. xD As part of this course we had to create a piece which clearly included aspects of famous artists' work around our chosen theme. Mine was Japanese art; others chose surrealism, so some of their final pieces included animals with spidery legs [not unlike Dali's]. We get marks for this, as long as our piece doesn't turn out as a complete copy of a whole famous work. xD So don't think I'm stealing! I wouldn't do that. c: Yes, the wave is in Hokusai's style; but that is deliberate as part of the course requirements.

what do you mean you arent proud of it! its GORGEOUS! :D and even if you have no idea where the koi came from, thats my fave part, they are sooo cute! :)

I like the colourfulness of the butterfly, the warmth of the orange sky, the amazingness of the volcano, the gracefulness of the koi, the skillful detail of the waves and the beautifulness of the cherry blossoms! ;D

The Japanese theme is really cool! This belongs in an art gallery - your talent will be share! ^_^
